Sound is, of course, often as important to communicating the message and feel of a film as the visuals themselves. For filmmakers, a rudimentary understanding of acoustics is important for planning locations, voice overs, and overall audio.
We’ve used Room Eq Wizard on a number of occasions for measuring and understanding room dynamics. Usually this has been for reducing unwanted echos in larger studio spaces, but sometimes having a visual representation sound in a space helps reproduce that feel later.
